Joel Embiid was upset at the lack of support the Philadelphia 76ers home crowd showed to the team during their 92-97 Game 4 loss against the New York Knicks. Embiid admitted that the lack of support has been pissing him off.

“I love our fans. I think it's unfortunate, and I'm not calling them out, it’s disappointing. Obviously, a lot of Knicks fans are down the road. I've never seen it and I've been here for 10 years. It kind of pisses me off, especially because Philly is considered a sports town, they've always shown up. I don't think that should happen.”

Embiid's frustrations have to be really high after he heard himself get booed in his own home arena while taking free throws.

Some visiting fans even led the arena in a 'F**k Embiid' chant.

The 76ers were no match for the Knicks during this contest, as Embiid was also outplayed by the best player on New York's squad. Embiid ended the night with 27 points and 10 rebounds, failing to make a single field goal in the fourth quarter. Jalen Brunson put up 47 points and 10 assists for New York, outclassing Embiid thoroughly during the game.

Embiid is averaging 35.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists this series, coming off an incredible Game 3 performance where he scored 50 points to lead the 76ers to a win. With a 3-1 deficit, Embiid and the 76ers have to replicate history if they want to advance. with Embiid, they're capable of beating any team in the NBA provided he's healthy.

Joel Embiid's Playing Through Injury While Creating Controversy

Joel Embiid rushed to return to the court after having knee surgery a few months ago, but everyone knows he's less than 100% for this series. Another massive setback was dealt to Embiid when he was diagnosed with a mild case of Bell's Palsy.

"I don't know what exactly happened... It started a day or two before the Miami game, I had bad migraines and thought it was nothing. Usually, I don't like to check it out but for some reason, I ended up having to tell somebody. For the Miami game, my body was just not feeling it."

Playing through a variety of ailments means he keeps trying to protect himself during games from further injury, even if it means possibly injuring someone else. We saw this when he fouled Mitchell Robinson by intentionally grabbing his legs as he went up for a layup, something Embiid justified as protecting himself.

“I didn’t mean to hurt anybody. In those situations, I got to protect myself, because I’ve been in way too many situations where I’m always the recipient of the bad end of it. It was unfortunate.”

That foul on Robinson is still being discussed after the Knicks' center had to miss tonight's game. But backup big man Precious Achuiwa made Embiid's life hell after he checked in to absorb minutes from Isaiah Hartenstein, who picked up five fouls in the third quarter alone.

This season is likely river for a Philly team that never built a complete roster and couldn't rely on the health of their star. Thankfully, a season full of changes should be incoming with Embiid and Paul Reed the only players with signed contracts for next season.
