Los Angeles FC announced the signing of French star Olivier Giroud to a designated player deal on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old striker's contract runs through 2025 and includes an option for 2026.

Giroud will join LAFC this summer after departing AC Milan in Italy's Serie A. The MLS secondary transfer window opens on July 18.

"It is an incredibly exciting day for all associated with LAFC to welcome Olivier, his wife Jennifer and his family to the club," LAFC co-president & general manager John Thorrington said in a release.

"Olivier has a clear hunger to win, which he has done consistently throughout his club and international career. His championship ambition and his qualities as a man and as a player directly align with ours as a club. Therefore, we believe Olivier will be a great addition as we continue in our pursuit of more trophies."

Giroud is France's all-time leading goal scorer, accumulating 57 goals in 131 matches.

The 2018 World Cup champion will be reunited with Hugo Lloris, his longtime teammate with Les Bleus. The goalkeeper joined LAFC in December.

"I am delighted and excited to join LAFC," Giroud said. "I can't wait to get to Los Angeles and to play in front of the 3252 and all of the incredible fans."

He has scored 14 goals this season at AC Milan. His professional totals include 285 goals in 716 matches with 13 trophies across his stops with AC Milan, Chelsea (2018-21), Arsenal (2012-18) and in his native France.
